New Year's month is portrait time on http://www.differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.com/.
It's seems to become a good tradition that we draw or paint eachother's portrait as a kind of New Year's gift. I got send a picture of an intense looking lady.
I made a few versions of the picture.
I took me a few sketches before I got used to the form and expression on the face.
To make the drawing resembling to the reference photo takes a lot of sharp looking to get a good interpretation on the paper.
Looking back I think I wanted too bad to make the drawing looking as the photo.
Maybe I should have tried an experiment with a more loose way to make the portrait.
Something to remember for a next portrait.
But I made the best of it, hope the lady can live with it. :-)

Well here is the portrait x-change for DSFDF again and you did a great job. I like all the different sketches you did also . The one with some color is very nice too.

Luc, the one in color really looks like me...you really got my eyes. I'm impressed that you did so many!

Sorry my photo didn't have more light and shadow for you to work with. I realize now how important that is!

The portrait swap was great fun and can't wait 'til next year.
